The cats, found in a box outside Vets for Pets on Dudley Port, came with a note pleading with veterinary staff to help them find their new home.

While pets being dumped by owners who no longer want them may not be uncommon, the note came as a surprise to staff.

Vet, Jo Day, and veterinary nurse, Jodie Shepherd, with the abandoned cats

Veterinary partner Jo Day said: "I came in on Tuesday morning and I expected it just to be an average day. I found a cat box on the doorstep with two cats in there and a little not folded up."

The note, written as if the cats had penned it themselves, asked staff to help them find a new owner.

The letter which was left with the cats

"It said 'please help us find a new home. We are sisters and we have never been separated. We are five-years-old and are indoor cats," Mrs Day said.

The letter also said the cats 'just love to be cuddled' and wanted a new home together.

The vets has had difficulty finding the cats a temporary home with many re-homing centres in the Black Country close to bursting point.
