Walsall Patriots were planning to hold a memorial walk on Saturday to mark the second anniversary of the murder of soldier Lee Rigby by Islamic extremists.
It sparked fears of a repeat of violent scenes when the EDL came to Walsall three years ago when details of the march were revealed in February. But it has emerged no follow up application has been lodged to allow the march to go ahead.
Councillor Khizar Hussain, community, leisure and culture boss at Walsall Council, said: "The organiser confirmed they were not in a financial position to meet the costs a march would incur."
