Staffordshire woman accused of £36,000 benefits fraud

A woman from Staffordshire has appeared in court accused of falsely claiming more than £36,000 in benefits, including disability allowance.

Patricia Ward, aged 55, from Copsy Dale, Eccleshall, appeared before Cannock Magistrates yesterday charged with dishonesty in relation to her claims for housing and council tax benefits, pension credits and disability living allowance.

The charges date back to 2007.

Ward did not enter a plea at the magistrates court and the case was adjourned until the next hearing at Stafford Crown Court in August.
