Almost 80 per cent of people polled during the general and local election votes last Thursday backed calls for creating the new body. It follows a long-running campaign for Kidderminster to have its own council to bring it in line with Stourport and Bewdley.
Wyre Forest District Council chief executive Ian Miller described the news as a 'historic moment' for the town.
In total 18,264 people or 79.1 per cent voted 'yes' with 4,668 voting 'no' or just over 20 per cent.
A decision over the plan will be taken by Wyre Forest councillors on July 29.
