The 19-year-old was caught in Bath, Somerset, at around 8.45pm last night in a joint move by West Midlands Police and counterparts from Avon & Somerset Police.

A £5,000 reward was offered by the independent charity Crimestoppers for help to trace him and, following information received yesterday, officers moved in to arrest him near a block of flats in Northampton Street.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines is leading the investigation. He said: "Jackson has been transported to a police station in the West Midlands and will be questioned by detectives today in connection with Mr Simpson's murder.

"We've had a fantastic response since the Crimestoppers appeal for information and I'd like to thank everyone who's taken the time to get in touch.

"This is still very much a live enquiry and we're still appealing for information…I'd urge anyone with information about Mr Simpson's murder to call me immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call DI Hines on the 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through the Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
