Wolverhampton paedophile who distributed child porn gets more jail time
A convicted Wolverhampton paedophile who broke a court order by distributing child pornography has been locked up for two-and-a-half years.
The five-year order had been placed on Neal Hirons on August 17, 2009 after he was found guilty of being in possession of indecent images.
But police got a tip off about a similar image being uploaded to the internet on March 30 last year shortly before the order expired.
They discovered that an e-mail address involved in this was linked to Hirons and raided his home on January 29 this year, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
Officers found a mobile phone with a memory card that revealed more than 250 indecent images of children of varying degrees of seriousness, revealed Mr Howard Searle, prosecuting.
They also discovered that half an hour before the swoop, the 36-year-old had distributed one of the images to another pervert elsewhere in the country and was expecting to be sent a similar image in exchange. There was also evidence that Hirons had been using internet chat rooms linked to paedophiles.
Mr Tim Talbot-Webb, defending, said: "He knows he has a problem and wants help in dealing with it. He feels shame and regret after looking at these sort of images but soon returns to the practice. Whether it is a compulsion or addiction is splitting hairs."
Hirons from Lime Street, Penn Fields, admitted three charges of possession of indecent images, one of distributing and also pleaded guilty to breaking the terms of his Sexual Offender Prevention Order.
Judge Martin Walsh jailed the defendant for 30 months, put him on the Sex Offenders Register for life and made him the subject of an indefinite Sexual Offender Prevention Order.
