Weeks of delays for M6 resurfacing work in Black Country and Staffordshire

Motorists are being warned of weeks of delays during a series of night time closures on the M6 in the Black Country and Staffordshire which starts tonight.

The motorway will be fully closed northbound from Junction 10, for Walsall, to 13, for Stafford, for resurfacing work.

It will close overnight on weekdays until May 15.

It will see traffic being diverted off Junction 10 along the A454 Willenhall Road, onto Bilston Street island and the city ring road before heading towards the Stafford Street junction.

It will then be directed north along the A449.

The city council's traffic control centre will open one night a week during the works period for five hours to monitor traffic flow and check signal timings.

Closures will take place between 10pm and 6am on weekdays and work will continue until 8am on Saturday mornings.

The motorway will be open on the evening of May 4.
