The 18-year-old was yesterday detained by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at an address in Lye and taken to a Birmingham police station for questioning.

Computer equipment was also seized from his home address for forensic examination.

The action was pre-planned and intelligence led and police are keen to stress there was no immediate threat to public safety.

The man ? arrested on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 ? has been bailed until a date in July when he will return for further questioning.

While on bail he must live and sleep at a specified address, abide by an overnight curfew from midnight till 6am, surrender his passport, not apply for travel documents, and report weekly to a police station.
