The stadium has gone through its fair share of changes over the years, most recently with the opening of the revamped two-tier Stan Cullis Stand in 2012.

But this photograph also reveals the changes to the areas around the ground.

The new university building can be seen in Molineux Street in the shadow of the Steve Bull Stand. And the university has also taken over the former Feathers pub further up the road, which it plans to turn into a print centre. The vacant lot where The Wanderer used to stand can also been seen in the shot. A matchday favourite with Wolves fans for many years, the pub had been boarded up for 12 months before it was bought by the club. Thousands of people signed a petition to save it, but the club is now in the process of transforming the land into a staff car park.

The Goal Post pub, now known as Lounge 107, is also depicted on the corner of Staveley Road and Waterloo Road. It was also threatened with closure but has survived after a bid by Asda to turn it into a petrol station was thrown out. The picture was taken by Martin Handley, a flying instructor from Tatenhill Aviation Ltd. The 43-year-old was returning for a training flight to Gloucester in a two-seater Cessna 152 when he said his attention was drawn to a Molineux 'shimmering in the sunlight'.

"I was sitting in the plane watching the world go by when the stadium really caught my attention," said Mr Handley, from Tutbury, Staffordshire.

"I always try and take pictures when we're out and about. Molineux is a well-known stadium so it's nice to capture an image of something that people recognise.

"The sky was really clear, so the light was just right for a picture."
