The crash happened in Kingswinford High Street shortly after 1pm yesterday.

A woman in her 70s was hit by the car and suffered leg injuries, while the force of the impact brought the light column down, striking a woman in her 60s. The women were taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

Crew commander Andy Froggatt, who is based at Brierley Hill fire station, said: "The car impacted the traffic lights and brought the tower down."
