WATCH: 'The game's up' - Suspect named in Wolverhampton teacher murder probe as family pays tribute

The prime suspect in the murder of Wolverhampton music teacher Louis Simpson was named by police today.

Suspect Dylan Jackson, aged 19, of no fixed address, is wanted over the stabbing of well-loved Mr Simpson, who was killed at around 8.30pm on Monday at his Wolverhampton flat.

Mr Simpson, whose birth name was Herman, was stabbed in the back at the Compton Road bedsit.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our investigation is moving swiftly and we now have a suspect who we urgently need to trace.

"I would appeal to Dylan directly to contact me as soon as possible, but equally I would ask anyone who knows of his whereabouts to ring 101.

"Our thoughts remain with Mr Simpson's family as we attempt to bring his murderer to justice as swiftly as possible."

Mr Simpson's family, meanwhile, today spoke of their loss.

"Louis was a very unique person. He was a loyal son, a supporting and loving brother and he was an extremely proud father of his son whom he was so happy for when he graduated from Swansea University last year," they said.

"We as a family have been overwhelmed with the messages of condolence and support. Louis would be absolutely amazed at how well thought of he was.

"We look forward to the police apprehending the offender who took Louis from us so we can begin our journey toward justice. All we want now is Louis returned to us so he can be laid to rest."

Jackson should not be approached, but anyone who sees him should contact police immediately on 101. Information can also be given to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder, a 40-year-old woman from Chapel Ash and two men aged 44 and 51 from Chapel Ash and Heath Town. They have since been released and will face no further action.

Police and paramedics were called to the property on Compton Road at 8.30pm on Monday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A number of residents on Compton Road have spoke of their shock following the death of the popular music teacher, describing him as an intelligent, kind man who would be well-missed.
