Man arrested after death of teenager Adam Jones in Sandwell collision
A second man has been arrested as the net closes in on those responsible for the death of teenage hit-and-run victim Adam Jones.
The 15-year-old was hit by a Volkswagen Bora as he crossed at the junction of Beacon View Road and Walsall Road in West Bromwich on March 26.
Police, who have been searching for the driver since the incident, yesterday announced they had arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Detectives, who released the man on bail while inquiries continue, claim they are closing in on Adam's killer.
The arrest came as three search warrants were carried out by police at addresses in Tipton and West Bromwich yesterday.
It is the second arrest in connection with the case. A 23-year-old man was arrested on April 3 and also bailed.
Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the West Midlands Police's Collision Investigation Unit, called on the driver of the Volkswagen to 'do the right thing'.
He said: "These warrants have been executed based on information received primarily from members of the public and I would urge anyone with further information to come forward to help our investigation.
"We are closing in on the person responsible for Adam's death and I would appeal to that person directly to do the right thing and hand himself in."
Adam was riding his bike across the junction of Beacon View Road and Walsall Road in West Bromwich when he was struck by the car on March 26.
A huge police appeal was launched in an effort to trace the driver in the days that followed.
Images of the Volkswagen were shown on the big screen to thousands of football fans at The Hawthorns during West Brom's game with QPR on April 4, along with a plea from Baggies goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Adam's mother Mandy has called on people to share information in the hope of catching her son's killer. Yesterday, she posted images of the car on Twitter, along with the message: "Whoever sees this can u share it everywhere please my son's killer is still out there somewhere."
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
