It happened in Green Heath Road this morning.

Emergency services were called to the top of Green Heath Road just after 1am following reports of a man lying in the road.

The 21-year-old had been walking home from Cannock town centre when he was struck by a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly green, which failed to stop.

The vehicle is believed to have turned left on Broadhurst Green towards the Pye Green Road direction.

The victim, who was walking with another man in the direction of Bradbury Lane, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with suspected leg injuries.

Chief Inspector Steve Morrey, commander of Cannock Chase Local Policing Team (LPT), said: "I would urge anyone with information on this collision to come forward.

"The driver has shown little regard for the pedestrian by leaving the scene and would have known a collision had occurred.

"I would ask anyone with information, or who knows the identity of the vehicle or its driver, to come forward."

Anyone with information should call 101.
