Consultation events are being launched with people living nearby and business owners invited to attend and view the plans next month.

Bosses have showcased proposals for a new store to be created on the former home of the Bronx works, in Dudley Road, Lye.

The site has been cleared following the demolition of the factory and a former fire-ravaged laser combat centre.

If granted permission built, the store would create approximately 40 permanent jobs, with additional jobs created through construction and supply chain opportunities.

Aldi have also announced plans to build another store on part of the former British Sugar factory site, on Stourport Road between Kidderminster and Stourport, with another 40 jobs being created.

The site, now known as Silverwoods, is also due to become home to the district's new £11.9 million leisure centre.

A public consultation event will be held over the Lye plans on April 7, at Lye Town FC, in Stourbridge Road, between 3pm and 7pm.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: "We are excited about the prospect of delivering a new Aldi store to Lye which would offer the local community additional choice when completing their shopping.

"We would like to encourage local residents to come along and provide feedback to the team."

A consultation event over the Silverwoods store scheme will take place on April 9 between 3pm and 7pm at St Peters Church, in Birchen Coppice, Kidderminster.

The Bronx Manufacturing Co closed at the end of February 2009 after going into administration. It had first been established in the 1940s.

The site was later taken over by other firms including laser combat centre Battle Storm HQ, its parent company Momentum Ltd, manufacturing company Bradbury International UK, and Triple C Costume Hire.

But those companies moved off the site by 2013 after the site owners signalled plans to redevelop.

Aldi said there is already outline planning permission for a mixed use development at the site at Silverwoods.
