The crash happened at around 4.30pm today on the Wolverhampton Road, heading towards Birmingham.

A fire crew from Oldbury and paramedics attended the scene.

The man was freed from the car and taken to hospital for a precautionary check up, though his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Crew Commander Paul Ratcliffe, of Oldbury fire station, said the incident was not as serious as it could have been.

"The driver of the car appears to have lost control of the vehicle on the dual carriageway heading towards Birmingham," Commander Ratcliffe said.

"He had a minor collision with another vehicle and left the road, crossing a grass verge before hitting a telegraph pole.

"Paramedics helped the driver of the car out of the vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle stopped but was not harmed."
