Student accommodation and apartments will be built in its place on Tettenhall Road.

Formerly The Connaught, the hotel site will be replaced with 48 student flats and 53 other apartments. A total of 54 car parking spaces will also feature.

The developers will also donate £260,240 to improve play facilities at West Park as part of the deal.

Councillor Michael Hardacre said: "I totally welcome the development. The Quality Hotel is in the process of becoming a complete eyesore and something needs doing.

"After visiting the area, however, it is almost impossible to park there at the moment and I do have concerns over what will happen when a further 53 cars are put there."
