Pensioner airlifted to hospital with head injuries after falling into pub cellar

A man in his 80s suffered serious head injuries after falling 10 ft down a pub cellar.

The man was airlifted to hospital after the fall outside The Junction Inn pub in Chasetown.

A crew from the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill, near Burton, attended the scene in Queen Street at 11.30am this morning.

The man was flown to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Fire crews from Lichfield also attended the scene.

They helped rescue the man using a board and ropes.

It is believed the cellar door had been opened for a delivery.
