Confusion over location of new Wolverhampton free school

Confusion reigns over the location of the site of a new Wolverhampton free school that is set to open later this year.

The Wolverhampton Vocational Training Centre (WVTC) will initially take 25 pupils aged 16 to 19, all with special educational needs.

Bosses at the Central Learning Partnership Trust have spent the past year searching for suitable premises for the centre, which will also feature on site accommodation for students.

Wolverhampton South East MP Pat McFadden received a letter from the DfE's Lord Nash announcing that the school would open up at the former Tarmac site in Millfields Road.

In the letter Lord Nash says: "The school will be permanently located at the former Tarmac premises at Millfields Road, Wolverhampton, WV4 6JP."

But school bosses say this is not the case and that the centre has agreed a contract to move into the former Timken Training site in Upper Villiers Street.

Gemma Bryan, from WVTC's PR firm Lime Marketing, said: "No contract has been agreed regarding the former Tarmac site and the school will open its doors in Upper Villiers Street in September."

Mr McFadden said the details of the centre's location needed to clarified.
