Lorry driver killed and three people injured in Midland motorway crashes

A lorry driver was killed and three people were injured in separate crashes on the region's motorways, while overrunning roadworks caused 90 minute rush hour delays on the M6.

Three lorries were involved in the collision on the M6 northbound between Catthorpe Interchange and Junction 1 just after 11.35pm yesterday.

One of the drivers was confirmed dead at the scene, while a second was taken to University Hospital Coventry with leg and back pain.

The third was uninjured, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Earlier, at around 6.20pm, paramedics were called to the M5 northbound slip road at junction 3 for Halesowen after two cars collided.

Two men were taken to City Hospital with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, there were 90 minute delays on the M6 southbound this morning as roadworks overran between J4a and the M42.

And there were warnings from emergency services over fog on the regions roads making driving conditions hazardous.
