Three bands performed at The Asylum in Birmingham to raise money for the refurbishment of Halesowen's scout hut in Mucklow Hill.

The groups were Bittersweet Revenge, Vicious Nature and Voodoo Sioux and Saturday's event was organised by Dave Williamson, a friend of Christina's father.

He hoped to raise £2,500-£3,000 for the hut, which is home to Lapal Scout Group.

The 16-year-old was stabbed to death on a bus on the way to school in March 2013.

She had been due to sit a GCSE mock exam at Leasowes High School in Halesowen as she worked towards her dream of being a nurse.

But just seconds after sitting down on a double-decker in Birmingham she was stabbed to death in a spontaneous and motiveless attack.

Mr Williamson said: "I knew the bands and it was me that I asked them if they would play this and they were more than willing. It is a good cause and they have come through and are doing their stuff."

The builder, of Howdle's Lane, Brownhills, was desperate to help and agreed to organise the rock concert, which had attracted approximately 50 fans within an hour of starting.

His daughter Robyn Williamson, 15, who watched the gig, said: "I think it is great what my dad's doing really. It is such a nice thing, Christina was one of his school friend's daughters and though I never knew her, as far as I'm aware she was a lovely girl."

Her friend Georgie Hackett, 15, said: "They are all great upcoming bands performing tonight and it is a great chance to raise money for the Christina Edkins fund. I know some of the members of Bittersweet Revenge and I am really enjoying tonight's concert."
