Woman said I murdered my son, jury told

An abuse campaigner at the centre of an internet stalking trial told a jury that within hours of her teenage son dying, Penny Mellor blamed her by tweeting that she 'murdered him'.

Shy Keenan, 52, was giving evidence via video link against Coven-based Mellor, aged 53, who the prosecution claims is obsessed with Ms Keenan and has sent hundreds of distressing tweets and emails.

Ms Keenan wrote a memoir, published in 2008, called Broken about the sexual abuse she suffered as a child from her stepfather and other men. She describes herself as a justice campaigner and advocate for other child sex victims.

Friday's hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court was on the eve of the anniversary of when Ms Keenan's own 14-year-old son, Ayden Olson, took his own life.

Mellor, of Coven Mill Close, denies stalking Ms Keenan causing her serious distress between January 1 and March 16, 2013. It is alleged that she attacked Ms Keenan by sending tweets and publishing statements about her in emails sent to work associates.

Mellor is also a campaigner, on behalf of those who are falsely accused of Munchausen by Proxy, where illnesses are fabricated.

The two women fell out around 1999 because Ms Keenan felt Mellor's work might be supporting real child abusers. They were not in contact again until Mellor began tweeting about Ms Keenan in October 2012.

The trial continues.
