Man killed by train at Dudley Port station
A man died today after he was struck by a train, leading to delays between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
The incident happened at 12.05pm near Dudley Port station.
Dominic Sutton, a British Transport Police spokesman added: "We were called to Dudley Port station shortly after 12pm on Wednesday, 11 March, following reports a person had been struck by a train.
"Colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended, but a man was pronounced dead at the scene. We are trying to confirm his identity, and will inform his family.
"Officers are not treating the man's death as suspicious, but will prepare a file for the coroner."
London Midland said a passenger train was not involved in the incident.
Spokesman Francis Thomas from London Midland said disruption was likely for the next two hours.
He said: "It is affecting all services between Birmingham and Wolverhampton. That includes services to Telford and Shrewsbury which will be subject to cancellation or delays."
Disruption to rail services between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton has now reopened, but delays remain.
