The sites, in Essington, Perton, Wergs and Four Crosses near Cannock, will go before planning chiefs on March 17.

An MP has previously described the situation of having four sites planned at once 'bonkers'.

There are currently no crematoriums in South Staffordshire.

Councillor David Clifft, chairman of Essington Parish Council, said: "This application is of major concern for two communities.

"Although the crematorium if approved would be built on green belt in South Staffordshire, it' impact will be felt by two communities - Essington and the neighbouring Mossley housing estate in Walsall.

"The site also neighbours a large primary school.

"I am working closely with elected members of Walsall Council and both sets of residents from the two communities."

"We will be notifying residents of the hearing date of the application."

South Staffordshire Council leader Brian Edwards has previously said the authority would look at each scheme on its individual merits, meaning all four or none could be approved.
