The 10-year-old cat underwent life-saving surgery after it was shot with a pellet gun in Fairmile Road, Halesowen. Vets4Pets Halesowen have put out a warning on their Facebook page.

The cat was taken to Manor Veterinary Centre on February 12 and had a three hour operation. The cat's owner, who did not want to be named, said: "At the minute we have a really poorly boy, the current costs stand at over £3,000."

Pellets were also discovered in the leg of another cat by a neighbour.
