The man from Wolverhampton failed to stop for officers in Victoria Street after running through a red light shortly after midnight this morning.

As police gave chase, the 40-year-old driver of the blue Ford Focus lost control on Bilston Road at the junction with Darlaston Road, and crashed into a garden.

The man was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital with minor injuries and will be questioned on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving.

The road was closed with diversions down Whitley Street while debris was cleared.
