Caught on CCTV: Robber who assaulted punter and stole £300 winnings

This is the man police would like to speak to after a betting shop punter was robbed of his winnings.

The gambler had just come out of a bookmaker's on Temple Row, Birmingham, when he was approached by a man who asked him for money.

The punter declined and the man then followed him a short distance before assaulting him and stealing his winnings of £300 from his coat pocket.

The robber is described as Asian, aged around 40, 5ft 6ins tall, with a goatee beard. He was wearing light coloured trousers, a light coloured jacket and a baseball cap.

Detective Constable Alexandrea Backrath said: "Thankfully, the victim was not badly hurt in the robbery, which happened at around 5pm on November 24.

"Anyone who knows his identity is urged to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
