Saddlers supporters in petition for special kit to be worn at Wembley
Saddlers supporters have launched an on-line petition calling for a special commemorative kit to be worn at Wembley.
Walsall has been drawn to wear away colours for the historic cup final appearance which has seen fans ask for a one-off strip to be produced.
But Walsall FC bosses have insisted it will not be possible and the team will be donning black shirts with yellow shorts and socks for the showpiece occasion.
It was decided following a toss of the coin with opponents Bristol City also wear red and white as their home colours.
The call for the special strip has been launched at www.ipetitions.com/petition/walsall-commemorative-kit
It states: "Walsall FC recently made history by reaching the final of the Johnstones Paint Trophy thus earning the right right play at Wembley.
"At the hands of a coin toss decision Walsall will wear their black away strip in the final. "Sign this petition in the hopes we can get the club to release a commemorative kit."
Petition supporter Natasha Long said: "Come on give is a kit for Wembley."
Stephen Walton added: "Would love to get this top and stick it in a frame."
So far just 43 people have signed the petition - with organisers hoping for 100 signatures.
And club bosses have said it would not be possible to get a new strip organised ahead of the big game for players to wear and supporters to purchase.
Secretary Daniel Mole said: "We wouldn't be able to turn around a new kit to be approved by the suppliers and our sponsors and approved by the football league.
"You also have to sign off your club colours at the start of the season." A limited number of replica shirts are now available at the club shop.
More than 20,000 are available for the club's first trip to Wembley - with the first going on sale to season ticket holders yesterday.
The Saddlers created a new chapter in their 127 year history with victory over two legs against Preston North End.
The initial allocation is for just over 20,000 tickets, which could rise subject to demand.
They are priced from £20 to £60 for adults and £10 to £30 for concessions.
After season ticket holders, supporters with purchase history or stubs from this season will be able to book their space from February 13.
Fans with history from previous years will get their chance on February 20, before tickets go on general sale on February 27.
