More than 40 sign up as donors in memory of Margot Martini
More than 40 people have signed up as potential bone marrow donors as part of a campaign inspired by toddler Margot Martini.
The donor driver saw 41 people give a swab of their DNA to go on the UK stem cell register.
Lucy Clark, who led the donor drive, said: "I started following Margot's story on Facebook because her family were regularly posting blogs and information about how she was getting on.
"When she sadly passed away I was so gutted about it; I thought I need to do something with this energy instead of just sitting here crying."
Two-year-old Margot, whose mother Vicki is from Essington, died after a huge worldwide search for a bone marrow donor. She had two rare forms of leukaemia.
Donor drives inspired by Margot have now flagged up the first two matches with people in need of bone marrow donation.
People in general good health, between the age of 18 and 55, can become a potential blood stem cell donor. For more details go to the website at www.teammargot.com/how-to-register/
