White Cross Vets is supporting a bid to encourage anti-freeze manufacturers to add bittering agents to the toxic liquid to make it taste less sweet and be less appealing for cats and dogs.

The veterinary practices, based in Bloxwich, Tividale and Birmingham, are calling for action.

The issue has been raised in Parliament with more than 20 cats recently dying after swallowing anti-freeze in Nottingham.

Bonnie Leibowitch, clinic director at White Cross Vets in Tividale, said: "We'd like as many people as possible to sign the online petition via the whitecrossvets.co.uk website. That it has been discussed in Parliament in recent weeks demonstrates what a serious issue this is."
