Dudley driver who fell from van in court accused of drink driving and assaulting police officer
A Dudley man is due in court this morning, accused of drink driving and assaulting a police officer whilst resisting arrest.
Unemployed Aaron Anslow was detained on Sunday night after police were called to reports of a Mercedes Vito van driving on the wrong side of Halesowen Road, Netherton.
Witnesses informed officers that the driver was seen to fall from the vehicle before continuing along Baptist End Road, where police began to follow the van, into nearby Park Road.
Anslow, of Four Winds Road, was chased from the vehicle and is accused of punching a police officer as he attempted to arrest him. Officers deployed a Taser to detain the suspect, but the man managed to escape and run to a neighbouring property.
Anslow was subsequently arrested, following the use of CS spray, and taken into police custody, where he was later charged with the offences of driving whilst above the alcohol limit, using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest.
The 29-year-old will appear before Dudley Magistrates Court this morning.
