Appeal launched after man's jaw broken in 'vicious and unprovoked' attack

A man required surgery after his jaw was broken in two places following an unprovoked attack.

The 35-year-old was walking along Upper Church Lane, Tipton, when two men walked passed him, before turning and punching him once to the face.

The pair then ran off along the street and got into a white Ford Transit van, with an opening door on the nearside, possibly between a 51 to 52 registration plate.

The first offender is described as an Asian man, in his mid 20s - mid 30s, of stocky build, black brushed back hair, approximately 5ft 8in to 6ft in height. He is described as having very large hands, wearing a dark green short sleeved t-shirt and blue jeans.

The second man was also Asian and in his mid 20s - mid 30s, of medium build, with short black hair, approximately 5ft 4in tall, wearing a dark blue tracksuit top with a hood and bottoms.

The assault took place at around 12 noon on Monday, December 15.

PC James Finnegan who is leading the inquiry said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on a lone man in broad daylight.

"As a result of their actions, this man suffered a broken jaw, in two places, and needed surgery.

"We want to hear from anyone who knows these two men or who has information to help us with this investigation."
