St Luke's Church of England Aided Primary School in Blakenhall, Wolverhampton, was described as 'flourishing' and given an overall rating of 'Good' following an inspection in November.

In the report the 478-pupil school in Park Street South received 'grade 2' ratings in the five key areas of leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and early years provision.

Headteacher Alison Grennan was described as an 'inspirational' leader, who had worked with other senior leaders and governors to make significant improvements in teaching and achievement across the school since the previous inspection in 2009.

Inspectors noted the continuing improvement in the quality of teaching had raised pupils' achievements.

Lead inspector Andrew Stafford, wrote in his report: "The headteacher is an inspirational leader whose own ambition for the pupils is shared by the whole school community.

"She, along with senior leaders and governors, has high expectations of all staff and pupils. This is the major reason why teaching, behaviour and achievement are good and the school is flourishing."

During the two day inspection 21 lessons were observed and meetings were held with staff, governors and pupils.
