The four men casually walked into the Wordsley branch of Sainsburys Local with their faces covered, and grabbed a male member of staff.

The 21-year-old was pushed towards the tills as the robbers demanded to know the location of the safe, before telling his colleague to fill a rubble sack with cigarettes.

When the staff refused, one of the offenders picked up a metal news stand and threatened the men with violence.

The men ultimately fled - with several thousand pounds worth of cigarettes and cash from the tills - to a stolen '59' plate white Ford Focus RS which they used to get away from the scene.

The incident occurred at around 10.45pm on Sunday, December 7.

DC Caroline Morris, from Dudley Police, said: "The men made several threats to the staff and were rough with the young man who had the misfortune of come into contact with them as they entered the store.

"We are very keen to trace those involved and urge anyone who recognises the men, their distinctive clothing, or the 59 plate sporty Ford Focus ? which had been stolen from Shropshire prior to the robbery ? to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information to assist the police investigation should contact the police on 101, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
