The work will be carried out at Homer Hill Park to improve access for its many visitors.

Council leader Pete Lowe has agreed to include the project in the authority's work programme.

The five new paths will be made in or around the perimeter of the park and will join up with the existing network of walking routes that run through the green.

Dudley Council says it will mean the majority of the park will be accessible to visitors via a surfaced pedestrian route.

Councillor Lowe said: "As part of the Homer Hill Park Master Plan, the construction of five new paths in or around the perimeter of Homer Hill Park are considered essential enhancements.

"The work will extend the existing footpath network to enable the majority of the park to be easily accessed via a new surfaced pedestrian route."

Some of the cash for the first four paths has come from the sale of the former crematorium lodge in Chase Road, Lower Gornal.
