Warning to parents: Fake Frozen dolls containing harmful chemicals on sale
Counterfeit dolls from the hit Disney film Frozen containing harmful chemicals may be circulating in Walsall, parents were today warned.
The Anna and Elsa dolls sing the chart topping song Let It Go from the movie, together with Olaf the Snowman.
Disney has confirmed the product, which originates from China and has no manufacturer or importer details, is fake.
Trading Standards officers in Walsall today said it is important people check with them if they believe they may have one of the counterfeit dolls.
It is believed the items may contain chemicals that can cause cancer, birth defects and infertility in men.
They have issued the warning after a member of the public contacted Trading Standards alleging the counterfeit products were being sold on market stalls and on social networking site Facebook.
Councillor Khizar Hussain, cabinet member for community, leisure and culture, said: "It is pretty much impossible to tell these dolls are counterfeit, just by looking at them.
"But they are potentially very dangerous and I would urge anyone who thinks they may have one to keep them away from children and to get in touch with trading standards for advice."
