It is being carried out along Bridgeman Street, Walsall, from January 10-19 while the project is completed on behalf of National Grid Gas.
The route will be shut between the junctions of Station Street and Bradford Place to replace a cast iron main with more long-standing pipes.
The road is expected to be closed from 6pm on January 10 until 6am on January 19. A signed diversion route will be in operation for affected traffic using Queen Street, Rollingmill Street, Wednesbury Road and Bradford Street.
