Sandra Nowocinska, aged 22, died in hospital four days after she was rescued from a blaze at her apartment in Kidderminster.

Her five-year-old was also pulled from the fire in Horsefair. He is now in care of his family following treatment in hospital.

Since the blaze, the town community has donated money and clothes as well as organising a fundraising event in February.

Yesterday, in a statement, Ms Nowocinska's family said: "We have been touched by the abundant consideration shown by the whole Kidderminster community."

A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fire. He was released on bail while the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding, said police were keen to speak to anyone near the flat four days before the fire, on December 1.

He said: "We're especially keen to talk to anyone who was in The Horsefair and passed by the front entrance of the premises which is next to Cash for Clothes or knows someone who did between 9.30 and10.00pm on Thursday 27 November."
