Burntwood bogus charity worker charged with burglary and fraud

A woman who posed as a charity worker to carry out a series of burglaries on elderly residents in the Burntwood area has been charged with five counts of burglary and two of fraud by false representation.

26 year-old Rebecca Young from Jervis Court, Chase Terrace, called at houses asking for donations or sponsorship.

She would then get her herself invited in to the property and distracted the resident by asking for a drink. While their attention was elsewhere, she made off with cash, bank cards, wallets, purses and cheques books.

Young was appearing at Cannock Magistrates Court today.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 272 of 22 December.
