Man charged after woman brutally assaulted in her own home

A 21-year-old man was today arrested and charged with wounding after a woman was viciously assaulted in her Sandwell home.

The victim sustained severe injuries including broken bones, a fractured eye socket and other injuries. The 36-year-old woman was taken to hospital and continues to be treated for her injuries.

Police were alerted by the ambulance service at around 6am on Friday, December 5, to reports of an assault on a woman at an address on Trident Drive in Warley.

Liam Lunn, 21 of Giles Road, Langley was arrested and later charged with wounding. He appeared at Warley Magistrates Court this morning, where he was remanded into custody until March 2015.

Another 26-year-old man from Oldbury was arrested this morning on suspicion of wounding in connection with the attack and is currently helping police with their enquiries.

Sergeant Chris Jones, from Sandwell's Violent Crime team, said: "Enquiries into the attack are on-going. At this stage we believe that there may have been another person involved in the assault and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to call me or one of the team."
