Police seeking good Samaritan who aided Dudley attack woman, 19
Detectives want to trace a good Samaritan who came to the rescue of a young Dudley woman who was attacked and held against her will.
Police today revealed they have launched an investigation after receiving an emergency call on Sunday, November 23, from a 19-year-old woman who had been assaulted after being dragged into a car in Gornal, assaulted and dumped in Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton.
The teenager, who was wearing only her pyjamas, was distressed and unaware of where she was when a man stopped, at around 5am in Devon Road, and asked if she needed help.
The man, who was driving a Jeep type of car and spoke with an Irish accent, drove the distressed young woman home, to the Gornal area, and carried on his way.
Detective Constable Warren Moore, from Dudley Public Protection unit, said: "Hours after this attack we arrested a 20-year-old man in Wolverhampton on suspicion of assault and kidnap and he remains on police bail pending further enquiries.
"However, we still need to trace the man who stopped to help the young woman as he is likely to be a witness and could have information which may be of use to our investigation.
"He may well not be aware of what had happened before he gallantly offered his help, but we would urge him to come forward to help us if at all possible.
"We know he was in a Jeep type of 4x4 car and he spoke with an Irish accent. He was travelling through Whitmore Reans some time between 3am and 5am on Sunday 23 November and ended up giving the girl a lift back to the Sedgley or Gornal area."
