Teenager arrested over man's death in suspected Rugeley hit and run
A teenager has been arrested and bailed in connection with the death of a 22 year-old man in Rugeley yesterday following a suspected hit-and-run.
The victim was discovered on a footpath in Western Springs Road, at the junction of Church Street, at around 2.30am yesterday morning.
An 18 year-old was arrested this afternoon and taken into custody for questioning while a Skoda Fabia has been recovered for detailed forensic examination to be carried out.
The road was closed throughout the morning while Staffordshire Police investigated the scene. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 107 of December 6.
A statement from Staffordshire police said: We have now finished our investigation work at the scene and the road has reopened to traffic.
"Early indications suggest there may have been a non-stop road traffic collision. Pieces of vehicle debris found at the scene will now be subject to a detailed forensic examination.
"Detectives are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to establish exactly what has happened at the location and trace the vehicle concerned. Details of which have yet to be confirmed.
"We are continuing to support the man's family at this very difficult time.
"We are urging anyone with information about this incident, however insignificant it may seem, to contact us on 101 quoting incident 107 of December 6, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
