Wordsley councillor Paul Brothwood and UKIP MEP Bill Etheridge said Gornal councillor Dave Branwood should apologise after tweeting an insulting comment to David Cameron shortly after the two-minute silence on November 9.

Councillor Branwood called the Prime Minister 'dishface' shortly after he paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Cenotaph in London.

Bill Etheridge MEP said: "I believe Councillor Branwood has shown complete disrespect on a day of reflection and mourning.

"His tweet was brought to our attention by a member of the community who quite rightly felt appalled by his action."

Cllr Paul Brothwood added: "I find Councillor Branwood's inane remark deeply distasteful and I believe he should apologise for issuing the tweet at a deeply sensitive time.

"Maybe he should also make a donation to a charity such as the Poppy Appeal.

"For a cabinet member to make a statement of this nature brings his judgement into question at a time of national mourning."

Councillor Branwood declined to comment.
