Man seriously injured as struck by car which hit wall of pub in Black Country smash

A man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car which then hit the wall of a pub in the Black Country last night.

The incident occurred in Cradley Road in Cradley Heath at just after 9pm.

The pedestrian - a man in his forties - was treated on scene for serious pelvic and leg injuries, before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The driver of the car, a man thought to be in his thirties, was treated for a head injury and was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Two ambulances together with a paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle and the MERIT team attended the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Steve Parry said: "Crews arrived to find a pedestrian had been in collision with a car, which in turn had collided with the wall of a public house.

"A man believed to be in his forties was treated for serious pelvic and leg injuries.

"The patient was immobilised with the use of leg splints, a neck collar and placed on a spinal board before he was conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital further assessment and treatment.

"The driver of the car, a man thought to be in his thirties, was treated for a head injury and was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital."
