Ian Hollingworth lashed out at Wayne who had taken him out for the day in a bid to forge a closer bond between them.

The 29-year-old 'picked an argument' when his brother 'turned his back on him' as they fished together, the Appeal Court in London was told.

He poleaxed his brother with a single punch and left the victim with a serious eye injury.

Wayne Hollingworth needed extensive medical treatment and was left with 'some degree of blurred vision,' said Judge Alistair McCreath who sat with Lady Justice Sharp and Mr Justice Blake.

Ian Hollingworth from Glyn Avenue, Bilston, was sent to prison for four years at Wolverhampton Crown Court in July after being convicted of causing grievous bodily harm and being branded as 'dangerous.'

It was not the first time he had attacked his innocent brother who had shown him 'considerable kindness,' the Appeal Court heard

Judge McCreath said it was a 'brutish and cowardly' attack during which the thug had even 'laughed and taunted' his brother while the victim lay semi-conscious on the ground.

Hollingworth had also shown an 'utter lack of remorse,' the judge added but concluded that the four-year term was outside the correct bracket for that type of offence and should be reduced by 12 months.

He concluded: "The appropriate sentence was three years, but no more."
