The club officially opened its new facility yesterday at Compton Park.

And they announced plans to thank people for their co-operation during the disruption after construction work that has lasted since July 2013.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "We will be writing to the 1,000 residents who we consulted before gaining planning permission to invite them to the Brighton game next month.

"We will also be inviting a number of season ticket holders to view this facility shortly.

"Many different bodies and people such as the City of Wolverhampton College, St. Peter's Collegiate School, Linden Lea Tennis Club and local residents all recognised the benefits of this unique opportunity and supported us."

Wolves chairman Steve Morgan also said the club plan to turn their attentions to the £40m redevelopment of Molineux at some stage.

"I always said from the beginning that it was going to be phased and it will be," said Mr Morgan.

"We will make the decision on the ground as and when.

"I'd like to think so (it will happen), yes. It was always going to be a phased plan.

"When the revolution in academy football was announced three or four years ago we had to switch the focus from capital spending on to the academy.

"We have spent many millions of pounds on the academy and plus many more millions on player recruitment which hasn't been shown through.

"That's all been part of the capital expenditure and now we need to take breath and see where we go."

The education suite of the academy building has been named after the University of Wolverhampton's Sir Geoff Hampton.

Sir Geoff's vision inspired the £50m private/public sector project which saw the university vacate its premises and have a new science faculty in the city centre, a new building for St. Edmunds Catholic School, a new academy for Wolves and 55 executive homes.
