Two charged after series of West Midlands fuel thefts

Two men have been charged following a series of fuel thefts across the West Midlands, including one where an officer was dragged a short distance by a car while trying to make an arrest.

Craig Williams and Jamie Brookes were arrested outside Co-op service station in Dudley Port on October 1, following a report of a fuel theft. During the arrest, the car collided with an officer, causing minor cuts and grazes.

Williams, of Colbourne Road, Tipton, who was the driver of the car, was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, disqualified driving, and petrol theft.

The 40-year-old appeared before Warley Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded into custody.

Brookes, of no fixed abode, was charged with fuel theft in connection with the same theft and following subsequent inquiries, was later charged with a further 17 offences relating to vehicle and fuel thefts.

The 27—year-old will appear before Warley Magistrates Court tomorrow.
