Man killed as car hits tree in Staffordshire crash

A man was killed when his car smashed into a tree in Staffordshire this morning.

The accident happened on the A519 between Slindon and Beech in Eccleshall, near Stafford, at 7.15am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service communications officer Claire Brown said: "The paramedic and doctor arrived to find a car which had been in collision with a tree. Sadly it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the driver, a man, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

"No one else was injured in the collision."
