The detective in charge of the Josh Price murder investigation has vowed to leave 'no stone unturned' in the quest to find those responsible for his death.

Father-of-one Mr Price was found stabbed to death in Treynham Close, Stow Heath Green, Wolverhampton, late on Saturday night.

Police launched a murder investigation in the hours after finding the 21-year-old's body.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, who is leading the investigation, said police were 'exploring every possible line of inquiry' in a bid to solve the murder.

"This is a complex investigation by its very nature, but I am confident the case is eminently solvable," he said.

"We are doing everything in our power to find the person or people responsible for the tragic death of this young man. We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to bring them to justice."

Part of the investigation involves police trawling through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage gathered from cameras in locations around the scene of the murder.

DI Hines said the task was a 'mammoth undertaking' involving scouring footage from several miles around the murder scene, but one which could help to provide vital clues.

"Obviously we don't know the identity of the people or person we are looking for, so it is a case of officers trying to locate members of the public who were seen near the area before or after Josh's death.

"The more people we speak to who were around the Treynham Close area on Saturday night, the better our chances are of solving the crime.

"It is vital we gather as much information as possible."

The day after the murder police launched an appeal to speak to a man who had tried to help Mr Price shortly after he had been stabbed.

DI Hines said: "He came forward as a result of a press appeal. He was passing by on his way home and assisted Mr Price, but he was never a suspect and unfortunately he was unable to shed any light into what had happened."

Mr Price lived with his girlfriend and their one year old child in Park View Road, just 200 yards away from where he was killed.

One of his neighbours, Danielle Hayward, aged 20, said she had seen him leaving his flat and heading towards Treynham Close just moments before his death.

An area at the end of the street was cordoned off for several days following the stabbing while police and forensic investigators worked at the scene.
