E-fit released after serious sexual assault in Wednesfield
Police in Wednesfield have released an E-fit image of a man suspected of carrying out a serious sexual assault on a woman.
The woman – who is in her 20s – was assaulted at her home in the Long Knowle area of the town in the early hours of Sunday, September 14.
She had returned home from a night out when she heard a noise coming from downstairs. The woman went to see what it was and was confronted by a man who then sexually assaulted her.
Detective Constable Sandra Dodd said: "This is an unusual and isolated offence, and we would like to reassure local people that we are doing all we can to trace this man.
"The woman had just got home, briefly leaving her door unlocked, and we believe this is how the man got in.
"He is described as white, in his late 20s, of a skinny build and around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a dark blue cap, dark coloured tracksuit and smelt strongly of deodorant.
"We have carried out house to house, forensic and CCTV inquiries, which we are in the process of following up. In the meantime, the woman has helped us put together an E-fit of what the man looks like in a bid to find him.
"I would urge anyone who knows who he is to contact us immediately. In light of this assault, I would also urge people to be vigilant, ensuring their homes are locked and secure at night, and calling police if they see anyone acting suspiciously in the area."
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
