The smash happened on Portway Hill just after 12pm this afternoon but no one is thought to be seriously hurt.

It is believed one of the cars crashed into an ice cream van as it swerved to avoid another car.

One driver said: "I got there just after it happened and the road was closed with police and ambulances there.

"It seemed as if one of the cars swerved to avoid another and hit an ice cream van.

"I use the road quite a lot and cars travel down here quite fast."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "A car collided with a stationary vehicle and the road is now blocked."

The 127 bus service was diverted due to the crash, with buses using City Rd, Wolverhampton Rd and Newbury Lane to get around the road blockage.
